Day 1 Bogotá

Upon arrival at airport in Colombia, you will be warmly met by a representative, who will provide assistance and transfer to your accommodation to check-in.

Day 2 Bogotá Half Day City Tour

Activities:

  • We begin our Colombia adventure with a half-day tour in the bustling city of Bogotá, starting with a walk around Bogotá’s main square, the Plaza de Bolívar and the government buildings around it, before entering the nearby “Candelaria” old town, the colonial center of the city.
  • We follow this with visits to San Francisco Church and to the world-famous Museo Del Oro (closed on Mondays), which houses more than 30,000 pre-Columbian gold artifacts.
  • We end with a trip by cable car to the summit of Monserrate hill, Bogotá’s best-known landmark, with a wonderful view of the whole city and the savanna beyond.

Day 3 Bogotá - Zipaquirá & Guatavita Tour

Activities:

  • Trip to Zipaquirá with a visit to the famous Salt Cathedral which was constructed approximately 120 meters underground and used to be a salt mine.
  • Once above ground we visit Zipaquirá’s charming central square and end the day with a visit of the legendary lagoon of Guatavita. Duration: 8 hours approximately.

Day 4 Bogotá - Coffee Region

Activities:

  • Our fourth day starts with a transfer to the airport and a flight from Bogotá to Pereira or Armenia, where you will enjoy two -2- nights on a very typical coffee farm.
  • In the afternoon we continue with a visit to the coffee growing area and a farm where we receive a technical and practical introduction to the coffee cultivation and production.

Day 5 Coffee Region

Activities:

  • We start the morning with our trip to the Cocora Valley; once there we will enjoy breathtaking landscapes, which will be explored by a horse riding or walking trip, this is in one of the most beautiful places in Colombia. Here we will find the impressive “Palma de Cera”, the Colombian national tree and one of the tallest species of palm in the world.
  • On the way back to Armenia, we will visit Salento, a picturesque village in the middle of the coffee growing region.

Day 6 Coffee Region - San Agustín

Activities:

  • After breakfast, we transfer to the airport and fly to Neiva (with one stopover in Bogotá).
  • Upon arrival in Neiva, we continue our journey with an overland trip of 4–5 hours through the mountainous landscape of the river Magdalena to San Agustín.
  • Reaching the village you will be transferred to a wonderful hotel where you will enjoy a three-night stay.

Day 7 San Agustín

Activities:

  • In the morning, an extensive visit of the San Agustín Archaeological Park is scheduled. We will see the Mesitas A-B-C and D, the “Fuente Ceremonial de Lavapatas” and the Archaeological Museum.
  • In the afternoon, horseback ride to the “El Tablón” and “La Chaquira” archaeological sites or alternatively a visit to the nearby strait of the Río Magdalena.

Day 8 San Agustín

Activities:

  • After breakfast we start off with a trip to the nearby village of San José de Isnos, to see the treasures of its archaeological park, the “Alto de los Ídolos”, “Alto de las Piedras”, and the “Salto Del Mortiño” waterfalls.
  • In the afternoon we return to San Agustín where you will have free time for exploration.

Day 9 San Agustín - Cartagena

Activities:

  • In the morning, overland trip back to Neiva. Flight to Cartagena, via Bogotá. Welcome by the local travel guide. Transfer to hotel.
  • In the afternoon a half-day tour around Cartagena, one of the most impressive urban centers in Latin America awaits us. It is an ancient city constructed in the Spanish colonial style and surrounded by high defensive walls. But don’t be surprised if your own defenses fall and you find yourself falling in love with Cartagena’s heady mix of history and Caribbean charm. The tour takes us around all the historic buildings and plazas of the old city, including the “La Popa” Convent and San Felipe Castle.

Day 10 Cartagena

Activities:

  • Today will be a day of sea, sun and sand. We start the day with a speedboat ride towards the San Martín Island where we will have a visit of the aquarium and a chance to see performing dolphins and sharks.
  • We continue to the privately owned Pirate’s Island were we will spend the rest of the day.
  • After lunch you will have time to relax, sunbath and snorkel or take a dip in the Caribbean Sea.
  • We return to Cartagena during the late afternoon.

Day 10 Cartagena

Departure: During the course of the morning, transfer to the airport and return flight, to Bogotá. – (B)
