Upon arrival at airport in Costa Rica, you will be warmly met by a representative, who will provide assistance and transfer to your accommodation to check-in.

Overnight: San Jose

Day 2 San Jose - Irazu Volcano - Turrialba Valley

  • For today it’s programmed a guided transfer from San Jose to Turrialba Valley. This route is full of natural attractions. During this day you will have the opportunity to visit from the highest volcano in Costa Rica (Irazu Volcano) to the Turrialba Valley, which is known by its rivers and lakes.
  • On the way to the Irazu Volcano National Park, you will pass through the Costa Rica’s most important agricultural regions, where potatoes, cabbage, carrots and dairy goods are all produced.
  • At the volcano, a brief walk along the craters will allow you to learn about the different eruptions – each has its own characteristics. Just imagine all the beautiful views that you can observe from this elevation.
  • After visiting the Irazú Volcano, you will descend to the Orosi Valley, home of the Orosi Church. Within the walls of the oldest church in Costa Rica, you will experience the presence of the Costa Rican Spanish predecessors and their strong religious heritage.
  • The Orosi Valley is also characterized by the verdant hillsides which are filled with coffee plants. The rushing Reventazón River bisects the valley and empties into Lake Cachí. Here you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant located on a hill overlooking the Cachí Lake.
  • In the late afternoon you will visit the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE: One of the most important centers for tropical studies). There you will find species ranging from diminutive parasite plants and orchids to robust stands of bamboo. Get your camera ready to capture the multicolor palette of colors: bougainvilleas, heliconias, gingers and many more tropical beauties.

Overnight: Turrialba Valley – (B, L)

Day 3 Turrialba Valley - Tortuguero National Park

  • During the morning the journey will continue to the local area dock in the Siquirres area, where the boats are waiting for you to transfer you to the Tortuguero National Park.
  • A two hour boat ride will take you through the canals sheltered in the jungle of the rain forest. From the boat, you will be able to admire the unique flora and fauna of this area.
  • Upon arrival there will have short briefing of the hotel and the area followed by lunch.
  • In the afternoon you will visit the village of Tortuguero where you will learn the lifestyle of local residents and the significant conservation efforts that some NGOs have developed to protect sea turtles that come to spawn each year along the 22 miles of protected coastline.

Overnight: Tortuguero – (B, L, D)

Day 4 Tortuguero National Park

  • Tortuguero is a great place for ecotourism lovers. During this day and depending on the weather conditions, you can enjoy a guided hike through the jungle where you will learn how the different animals, insects and birds interact with forest plants, thus achieving a perfect balance of each species, or you can explore the secondary canals of this paradisiacal place, where you can see different species of mammals, birds and reptiles.
  • Tortuguero offers a full contact with Mother Nature. Much of the National Park extends along its unspoiled beaches that serve as refuge for spawning of the sea turtles, this event occurs between the months of July to September (an extra cost activity).
  • Rest of the day at leisure.

Overnight: Tortuguero – (B, L, D)

Day 5 Tortuguero National Park - Puerto Viejo De Limon

  • After breakfast, the journey continues with a boat-transfer back to the local dock.
  • Then you will continue with a land-transfer to the south Caribbean coast, specifically to Puerto Viejo de Limon, where you will stay the next two nights at the selected hotel. The South Caribbean coast is a truly wonderful place and very particular, of the rest of the country. It has become a place of leisure for those looking to relax on your vacation and enjoy the sun, the beach and the sea breeze, but also offers to each visitor a cultural mix that is noticed in their small and rustic hotels and its varied and exquisite traditional Afro-Caribbean food.

Overnight: Puerto Viejo De Limon – (B)

Day 6 Puerto Viejo De Limon

  • Today you have the day at leisure to enjoy the nature, relax on the beach, swim in the warm Caribbean waters or visit the town of Puerto Viejo de Limon and buy a souvenir at a good price.
  • If you want to continue discovering the natural beauty of the South Caribbean of Costa Rica, we recommend you to visit as optional excursions, the Cahuita National Park or Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, which are well recognized locally, not only for its natural beauty but also because they have created an awareness in local people about the importance in the conservation of natural resources for future generations.

Overnight: Puerto Viejo De Limon

Day 7 Puerto Viejo De Limon - San Jose

  • Morning at leisure to enjoy the beach and hotel facilities.
  • During the afternoon, a transfer is programmed to get you back to San Jose, for your last night in Costa Rica. On the way, you will pass through the Braulio Carrillo National Park, this is a flora and fauna sanctuary covered by an emerald-green mass of vegetation. This area is located in one of the most irregular topography zone. The view is represented by high mountains covered by dense forests and countless rivers. The topography and high precipitation is about 4.500 mm annual averages; this allows many waterfalls to be created.
