Day 1 Arrive San Jose

Upon arrival at airport in Costa Rica, you will be warmly met by a representative, who will provide assistance and transfer to your accommodation to check-in.

Day 2 San Jose - Golfo Dulce, Osa Peninsula

Activities:

  • After breakfast, you will be transferred to the local airstrip, just about 30 minutes from San Jose town, in order for you to take a domestic flight to Puerto Jiménez.
  • Upon arrival, four wheel drive transportation will be waiting for you to take you for a 45 minutes trip up to the lodge. You will be staying the next three nights at an Ecolodge Hotel. Eco-tourist lodge, designed in harmony with the environment and that strives to teach visitors the importance of preserving tropical forests. Thanks to more than 1000 hectares of nature reserve, you will experience the feeling of living in the forest. The bungalows are scattered around the property, allowing you to have as neighbors the wild animals, including birds, mammals and reptiles. At the top of the hill, stands the main building which will leave you breathless when you approach to appreciate the unique view of the ocean.
  • Just before dusk, is scheduled a night walk in the woods. With a naturalist guide, will have an amazing opportunity to explore the jungle trails and get another point of view of the nature, The nightlife of animals is completely different from the daily life, you will be surprised to see different species of frogs, spiders, butterflies, and snakes, each species in its own environment.

Day 3 Golfo Dulce, Osa Peninsula

Activities:

  • For this day it’s programmed a hike through the rainforest. The Osa Peninsula is considered as the site of greatest biodiversity in the Mesoamerican Pacific. Along the trail, the naturalist guide will show you the different species of flora and fauna and their interaction with the ecosystem.
  • Finally, you will reach a spectacular waterfall surrounded by giant trees and wonderful views of the forest. This is an excellent hike to experience the rainforest wildlife, ideal for nature lovers looking for a fun challenge, full of learning.
  • Rest of afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy the facilities of the Eco-Lodge.

Day 4 Golfo Dulce, Osa Peninsula

Activities:

  • Morning at leisure to explore the area on your own or simply enjoy the hotel facilities.
  • After lunch, you will learn about the medicinal plants that can be found walking through the different trails of primary forest. You will learn how the healing properties are extracted from the leaves and tree barks which still in nowadays are being studied for scientists. This is a unique and fascinating tour that will surprise you when you discover the secrets and traditions of indigenous peoples in tropical Mesoamerica.
  • Rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 5 Golfo Dulce - Arenal Volcano

Activities:

  • Early morning, a ground transfer will take you back to the Puerto Jimenez airstrip for a domestic flight to the northern lowlands of Costa Rica. On clear days, you’ll see during this flight several mountain systems such as; the Talamanca mountain range, the Central Volcanic range and Tilaran volcanic range, where is precisely located the Arenal Volcano, which you will be able to see after a short transfer from the local airport to the Hotel, where you will stay the next two nights.
  • Your stay at the hotel will be accompanied by an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, its luxurious suites, surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens and at just few steps from the thermal pools, will provide you with all the comfort that you need to relax and enjoy the main natural attraction in Costa Rica. The hotel offers one of the most spectacular views of Arenal Volcano, and thanks to its proximity to the national park, you can hear the rumblings of the constant eruptions of lava and ash that characterize this volcano.

Day 6 Arenal Volcano Area

Activities:

  • During the morning, you will visit the Arenal Volcano National Park, where there will be a walk through the different trails of the park.
  • In one of the trails you will see the most recent lava flows of this amazing colossus, while in other trails you will appreciate the rainforest, which is in full recovery from the eruption of 1969 and also species of colorful birds, tropical plants and small herds of wild animals such as of coatis and monkeys. Much of the attraction of this hike is that you will be at one of the closest points to the Arenal Volcano, so that, depending on weather conditions, may be witnessing of small eruptions of lava down the mountain, and clouds of smoke and ash .
  • After the walk, you will have time to enjoy and relax in hot springs of Arenal Kioro hotel, which offers several pools with different temperatures for your choice.
  • Additionally, the Arenal Volcano area offers a large number of optional activities according to your interests. For the adventurous, there are some tours where adrenaline and nature are combined, offering you a range of emotions that probably you never experienced before.
  • If you prefer to enjoy peaceful activities and in contact with the natural beauties of the area, we recommend you the visit to the Penas Blancas River, ideal place to see several species of migratory and local birds as well as species of monkeys, alligators and turtles.

Day 7 Arenal Volcano - Los Angeles Cloud Forest

Activities:

  • At mid-morning it’s programmed the transfer to Los Angeles Cloud Forest, near the small town of San Ramon, on the western edge of the Central Volcanic Cordillera. This short transfer, of just one and a half hour, is characterized by breathtaking views of the rainforest and picturesque landscapes of rural and agricultural communities. Your stay is reserved at a charming mountain hotel, where comfort goes hand in hand with conservation. The hotel’s philosophy is to combine the hospitality of the Costa Rican rural style with a deep respect for the natural environment. Around the main building are located the different rooms, style casitas, which will provide you with a feeling of visiting a small rural town of Costa Rica, combining tile roofs decorated with small fireplaces to warm the cool evenings that characterize these high mountains of the country.
  • The afternoon is at your leisure to relax in the conform of your room of this magnificent place and enjoy the rainforest, or you can go to any of the self-guided trails adjacent to the hotel, especially designed for the enjoyment of the tropical fauna, especially of different species exotic birds.

Day 8 Los Angeles Cloud Forest, San Ramon - Airport

Departure: Thanks to its excellent location, the hotel is located just an hour and a half from Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO), allowing you to continue to enjoy the natural environment and according with your flight itinerary, we will provide departure transfer. – (B)
