Culinary Germany

The first day of your culinary tour through Germany leads you to the southwestern part of Germany. On the way from Frankfurt to Rüdesheim you see vineyards on the slopes of the Rhine river, Germany’s longest river.

Activities:

• In Rüdesheim you will visit a wine museum and taste the regional wine (March- October).
• After that it is time for a delicious lunch, including the “Rheinischer Sauerbraten”(pot roast marinated in vinegar).The dish is typical for the regions along the Rhine River.
• In the afternoon continue to Heidelberg, Germany’s oldest university town.

Activities:

• In the morning travel from Heidelberg to Lindau. The road winds its way through the Black Forest.
• Stop at the castle Hohenzollern where you can try a real Swabian specialty: “Kässpätzle”, a special type of pasta with cheese.
• Afterwards continue to the small island of Lindau in Lake Constance, which offers spectacular views
  of the Alps.
• In the evening enjoy a wine tasting near the lake where you can taste different types of regional wines. The surroundings of Lake Constance are not only famous for wine but also for its fruit plantations such as apples and pears.

Activities:

• Today you leave Germany’s wine region and reach the capital of Bavaria, famous for its beer culture as well as for hearty meals.
• Upon arrival in Munich enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city including the most famous attractions such as the elegant Marienplatz with its famous clock tower.
• In the evening you have a real Bavarian experience: dinner at a local and authentic Bavarian restaurant where you can try a Bavarian “Schweinshaxe” (pork knuckle) with freshly drafted beer.

Activities:

• Today enjoy a “Munich Beer Tour”. During this walking tour you visit micro-breweries where you can try different types of beer.
• You also visit the famous Viktualienmarkt, a big street market with a huge variety of fresh food and delicatessen.
• You also see the famous Hofbräuhaus and a beer museum. The tour offers interesting facts about the history of German beer.

Activities:

• After breakfast travel to Nuremberg, located in Franconia.
• The Highlight of the afternoon is an interesting tour through the underground cellars of Nuremberg, where you learn more about the history and the elaboration process of beer since the 19th century.
• The tour ends with a presentation and tasting of a local beer.

Activities:

• In the morning visit Nuremberg’s historic city center and learn more about it’s impressive history and see the well-preserved castle Kaiserburg, Gothic churches, romantic houses and peaceful squares.
• The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Activities:

• After breakfast leave the city and head for Rothenburg, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities along the Romantic Road.
• Sightseeing tour of this lovely medieval town concluding with your last typical German lunch. Franconia is famous for its delicious potato dumplings.
